Response tracking: following a mail piece from the first call to the signed deal
A response is the moment someone acts on a mail piece. They call, scan, type in a URL, walk in, or mention a code. Response Tracking is about catching each of those moments and labeling it correctly, so it can be followed further down the funnel.
That sounds simple. In practice it breaks in predictable places: staff who forget to ask how a caller heard about the business, tracking numbers that forward to a voicemail nobody checks, campaign URLs that redirect to a homepage and drop their tags, and CRM fields left blank because the form didn't require them.
We write about setting up dedicated contact paths, testing them before the drop, and building intake habits that keep source data clean. We also write about the gap between a response and a result, because a 30-second wrong number and a booked consultation both show up as one call in most dashboards.
The first Response Track article is filed here, and it starts with law firms.
